After doing a work placement at BBC Online as part of my journalism degree, they asked me to carry on writing gig and theatre reviews for their website in return for free tickets to the shows.
I reviewed over 40 live events, had my first proper backstage experience and used my press pass to gain some useful media contacts just after I graduated. Obviously all in addition to getting those trusty Beeb bylines.
